The Kenyan city of Mombassa could see an increase in tourism in the coming years after a new shopping centre was opened there. Situated near Nakumatt, the new mall - financed by the family of the late Maesh Doshi - will feature some of the leading retail names and provide locals with a greater selection of brands to choose from. Local business people believe that the city is now complete and can be compared to others on the continent and across the world in terms of the amenities available. The opening ceremony of the facility took place last Thursday (May 17th) and included up to 500 locals, business people and investors. It may not be the last in the area as allafrica.com reports that another businessman, David Lang'at, will be creating a similarly-sized shopping centre nearby in the future. However, research by MasterCard revealed earlier this week that the Kenyan population is continuing to increase its use of online shopping.
