Kenya population continue to increase online shopping use

Online shopping is continuing to grow in Kenya as more people have access to the technology that is required. That is according to the latest MasterCard Shopping Survey, which found that 71 per cent of those who undertook shopping online had a satisfying experience. Furthermore, the most popular brands included music downloads, books, CDs and DVDs - all of which contribute to a growing economy. Charlton Goredema, vice-president and market manager for East Africa and Indian Ocean Islands at MasterCard Worldwide, explained that the continent is continuing to grow online. "We are spearheading the drive towards a cashless society globally, with a focused strategy on Africa, where cashless transactions will assist in improving the lives of the continent’s people by removing the risks and expenses associated with carrying and handling cash," he added. Mobile spending could also increase in the coming years after it was revealed that 4G mobile internet is to be introduced by 2013.
