Dubai to welcome tourists from across UAE

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has announced it is launching a promotional campaign this summer which aims to attract more tourists from neighbouring emirates.According to the Khaleej Times, the initiative has been christened 'Do More in Dubai' and hopes to see more domestic visitors pay the metropolis a visit from nearby regions.The scheme may appeal to consumers who have bought property in the UAE states of Ras Al Khaimah, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates and have not got the time or money to go abroad during the holiday period.Eyad Abdulrahman, executive director of media relations and business development at DTCM told the newspaper: "If you can't afford to travel outside, then come and enjoy the summer in Dubai."The initiative will feature promotions that will be printed by DTCM and distributed with help from the Dubai Mall, advertising reductions of up to 70 per cent in a special booklet for people to bring with them when they visit the emirate.DTCM aims to promote growth in the domestic tourism market in a bid to help the burgeoning emirate further expand."We are promoting around 25 main attractions and entertainment [facilities] in Dubai such as the Dolphinarium, the Big Bus [and] the iFly Dubai," Mr Abdulrahman explained.In addition, he noted the promotion will also be encouraging people from neighbouring emirates to visit Wild Wadi, the Jumeirah Group-owned waterpark that is located with views of the Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Resort offering adults and children 30 rides and attractions to enjoy in the sunshine.Furthermore, the scheme includes 77 hotels, which will be in on the exclusive deals available for domestic visitors, including free accommodation for children under 12, free spa and health centre access, free meals for children and a 20-30 per cent discount on dinners for adult guests.Finally, DTCM is trying to improve the occupancy rates of hotels during the holy month of Ramadan through special promotions - Dubai is a very popular city for Emirati and UAE residents at this time of year as people make the most of the holiday.
