Dubai 'has the third best taxi services in the world'

Dubai offers the third best taxi services in the world, new research has indicated.

According to TripAdvisor's Cities Survey, only Tokyo and Singapore provide a more efficient cab network than the UAE metropolis.

More than 75,000 people cast their vote in the competition and the results showed that Dubai is clearly very highly thought of around the world.

Dubai continues to expand all the time, so it is important that adequate transport infrastructure is in place.

As well as the impressive taxi services, the city also boasts a first-class Metro system, which has been used by an astonishing 213 million passengers since it was launched in 2009, Gulf Today recently reported.

The TripAdvisor study covered 40 major tourist cities across the globe and rated them based on numerous factors.

Unsurprisingly, Dubai also featured in the "Best for Shopping" category, finishing third behind Bangkok and fashion paradise New York.

With so many upmarket boutiques and the biggest malls on the planet, it is safe to say that Dubai is one of the finest retail hotspots around.

The survey also highlighted the cities that need to improve in the coming years.

Moscow was said to have the worst taxi service and least friendly locals and cab drivers in the world.

In addition to this, the Russian city was deemed to be the worst for shopping, although the respondents were also far from impressed with Oslo and Punta Cana.

One thing that Dubai prides itself on is its cleanliness and a number of the emirate's beaches have Blue Flag awards, which demonstrate just how hygienic they are.

However, the same cannot be said of Mumbai, Marrakech and Punta Cana, which were all found to have the dirtiest streets.

If nothing else, the study just goes to show how well Dubai stands up against other popular tourist destinations and it is no shock to see visitor numbers continuously rising.

A record number of people are expected to travel to this part of the Middle East in 2013, so now is an ideal time for foreign investors to secure lucrative assets in Dubai.
