RAK set to stage first ever international motor show

Ras al Khaimah (RAK) is set to host its first ever international motoring event this week.The emirate is building quite a reputation for staging top-class global exhibitions and the RAK International Motor Show 2012 has certainly captured the public's imagination.Scheduled to take place between November 14th and 17th at the RAK Expo Centre, the event will feature more than 200 cars and 40 motorcycles.Some exclusive models, including the only Audi R8 GTR-Z PPI in the world, will be showcased.Thousands of people are expected to descend on RAK for the motoring extravaganza and organisers insist it will be a great forum for manufacturers and businesspeople to make new contacts."We have created the RAK Motor Show to bring together a stunning display of the most impressive exotic and custom cars and bikes in the region," Basem Assi - marketing and events manager of show organisers Electromed - remarked.There is no doubt that such high-profile events will continue to put RAK on the map.Saeed Musabeh Al Nuaimi, acting director general of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry told AMEinfo the RAK International Motor Show will do wonders to promote the emirate as an investment hub."I am delighted that RAK will become the focal point for car and motorcycle fans over the next four days and I believe it will be a great success for all concerned," he was quoted as saying.Bosses at the RAK Expo Centre also confirmed that a family shopping event held at the venue between November 1st and 10th attracted lots of visitors.The emirate is not only an attractive destination for firms looking to stage or attend exhibitions, but it is also proving to be a breeding ground for start-up businesses.Indeed, a recent study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers showed 1,145 new enterprises were registered in RAK in the first half of 2012.This was a four per cent increase on the corresponding period in 2011.
