Perfume helps Dubai Duty Free reach 2011 target
Dubai has cemented its position as one of the world's leading retail hubs after reaching an important milestone.Property investors could be among those to benefit from increased demand from overseas visitors after Dubai Duty Free announced that it reached its sales target for 2011.Thanks to strong demand for perfumes and aftershaves, the company achieved its target, with total takings of Dh5.31 billion, Gulf News reported. This represented a 15.69 per cent increase on 2010, which was all the more impressive given the disruption the travel sector faced in light of the Arab Spring.Martin Moodie, a travel retail sectorr commentator, told the news provider that this year could bring even stronger results for retailers."Prospects look very strong indeed, driven by likely continued passenger traffic growth which in turn is being spurred by Emirates' burgeoning route network," he explained."More passengers spells more potential customers and Dubai Duty Free is one of the best in the business in converting travellers into shoppers."
