New rules could attract students to Dubai free zone

Property investors with portfolios boasting Dubai free zone homes could be set to notice increased demand over the coming years. That is after a change in the law saw the area's universities given a credibility boost. This could attract a number of new students to the area, which in turn would mean a spike in interest for short-term rents.A recent briefing by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) explained to universities that its qualifications will now be recognised by employers in both private and public sectors, Gulf News reported.Commenting on the new Resolution 21 law, Dr Abdullah Al Karam, director general of KHDA, told the news provider: "This law is a milestone for us saying that this model of branch campuses works and has been working."This law is something institutions can use to attract more students to Dubai because our initial 2001 vision of becoming a hub for international students between East and West has never changed."
