Kenya's broadcasters set for digital switch in 2012
Property investors with interests in Kenya could be among those interested to learn that the country will be switching from analogue to digital television later this year. The government is pushing all broadcasters to have the changes in place by June this year, three years ahead of the International Telecommunications Union's 2015 deadline. This could free up spectrum to improve the country's mobile network, therefore making it more attractive for businesses and to people looking to live in the country.Bitange Ndemo, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information and Communication, was quoted by allafrica.com as saying that change is on the way."By June 30th, the country will be covered with digital terrestrial signals to facilitate full migration. Whoever will still be using analogue transmission will be at a disadvantage," he explained.Kenya was also given a tourism boost last month when it was announced that the Nairobi National Park is to expand.
