Hilton to open new RAK hotel

The number of tourists flocking to Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) is set to rise after one of the biggest names in the hotel sector announced plans to open a new property in the emirate.Hilton Worldwide has confirmed a deal to open the doors to a new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in RAK.It is expected that the new venue will be ready to accept guests by early 2014, with the venue set to be located on the emirate's Al Marjan Island.Hilton Worldwide's president for the Middle East and Africa said: "Tourism is a vital sector of Ras Al Khaimah's economy and with three Hilton Worldwide hotels already open and a further three in the pipeline, I'm pleased we are playing a major part in firmly putting the emirate on the destination map."Today's announcement represents another important step in our ongoing commitment to the region and our continued expansion across the Middle East and Africa."Meanwhile, RAK also announced plans to reduce the risk of water shortages in the future, with two new reservoirs set to service the emirate in emergencies.
