Dubai 'is one of the best shopping hotspots in the world'

Dubai is fast becoming one of the world's leading retail hubs, with the city boasting a plethora of luxury stores and malls that put fashion capitals like London, Paris and Milan to shame. In its new list of the best shopping cities on the planet, CNN highlighted the brilliance of Dubai's malls. The emirate is awash with top-class shopping centres and visitors are always blown away by the sheer size of them.It is hard to comprehend how the Mall of the Emirates - the largest of its kind on Earth - came to be.Not only does the massive retail zone have stores owned by all of the high-end brand names you can imagine, it also has an indoor ski resort. The ambition shown by developers when building the Mall of the Emirates was phenomenal, but staggeringly, an even bigger shopping centre is set to be built in the near future.Indeed, another spectacular mall will be constructed as part of ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum's plans to create a "new city within Dubai".The Mall of the World is expected to attract 80 million people each year - an unbelievable number when you consider that Dubai International Airport is only capable of catering for 60 million passengers a year at the moment. As you would expect from a modern mega-structure, there will be plenty of amenities to go alongside the plethora of retail outlets.A multitude of glamorous hotels will be erected and an entertainment centre will be created in partnership with Universal Studios. In addition to this, an outdoor park that is 30 per cent bigger than the massive Hyde Park in London is also being created. With so many wonderful new developments going ahead, it is no surprise to see more people moving to Dubai on a permanent basis.Visitor numbers are also soaring and companies are building more state-of-the-art hotels right next to the main malls and retail hubs, which is clearly a shrewd move.
