Dubai’s hotels are gearing up to welcome an influx of tourists as the busy Eid holidays get underway. With a host of celebrations planned over the 16 day period (18th October – 2nd November) to mark the Holy festival, hotels in the city stand to profit from the arrival of close to a million visitors. According to a report by TRI Hospitality Consulting, Dubai’s hotels enjoyed huge gains during the Eid-al-Fitr holidays during August. Despite it being a summer month, occupancy levels rose by 8.7% to 64% and Average Room Rates (ARR) increased by over 20%. Combined, these attributed to nearly a 40% surge in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR).
Dubai International Airport was also proof of the booming tourist numbers. During the month of August the busy hub welcomed 4.85 million passengers – 20% more than the same period last year. Dubai hotels continue to benefit from the city’s year round calendar of events; from the likes of Eid celebrations, the Dubai Shopping Festival and Summer Surprises, to a multitude of global sporting tournaments, concerts and exhibitions.
