Telkom Kenya launches 3G services in three cities

The largest provider of integrated communications solutions in Kenya, Telkom Kenya, has launched 3G services in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.As a result of the move, subscribers in these cities will be provided with an internet speed of 21 Mbps, the Wireless Federation has reported.Operating under the flagship of Orange, Telkom Kenya plans to extend the service to other regions in a bid to cater to the ever increasing demand for data related services.According to Telkom Kenya chief executive Mickael Ghossein, a new internet era has begun where Orange will assume the lead in offering innovative products and services.Added to this, he said that users would be able to browse for as low as 0.40 cents per MB.Orange, meanwhile, has also launched a 3G shared broadband Wi-Fi router, which will enable up to ten users to connect to the internet simultaneously, thereby reducing costs.
