RAK film to be showcased at Swedish film festival

A film telling the story of two boys in Ras al Khaimah who must sell vegetable to help their sick grandmother is to be showcased at a film festival in Sweden.The award-winning film Sabeel, by Emirati director Khalid Al Mahmood, will form one of 15 screenings of Arab films at the Dubai-based Gulf Film Festival.Shorts, features and documentaries from the UAE, Bahrain and other Arab countries will be shown to audiences at the Malmo Arab Film Festival in Sweden this September 23rd-27th.Organised by the Arabian Scandinavian Cultural Centre, the move aims to promote relations between Arab and Scandanavian cultures.Other films to be shown include City of Life by Ali Mostafa, which illustrates the parallel worlds that exist simultaneously in Dubai."Sweden's Malmo Arab Film Festival showcases some of the finest Arab films in the world, and is a wonderful opportunity for emerging and established talents to access an entirely new audience," said Masoud Amralla Al Ali, festival director at Gulf Film Festival."Each of these films has the power to change cultural misconceptions and popular stereotypes by revealing the reality of the modern Arab world."
