Construction firm brought in to improve Abuja stadium pitch

Stadium facilities are going to be improved in Abuja ahead of a big football qualifying match for Nigeria at the beginning of next month, investors could be interested to hear.Construction group Julius Berger has been put in charge of improving the pitch to ensure that players are able to perform at their best ahead of the 2012 African Cup of Nations against Guinea on October 8th.Preliminary work has already taken place and is expected to be completed in time for training sessions ahead of the game from October 3rd, reports kickoff.com.Wolfgang Goetsch, managing director of Julius, told the news provider that the improvements will hopefully reflect well on the team's performance."We are ready to work on the pitch to ensure that the Super Eagles have a good surface to train and play a good match, and also because we like the efforts that the present NFF administration is putting in order to ensure that Nigeria is up there among the best football-playing nations of the world," he explained.Guinea's national team coach Michel Dussuyer said this week that he is hoping to get a point from the game.
