Asian investors wooed by Abu Dhabi

Asian investors are being wooed by Abu Dhabi's new industrial zone, it has been claimed.Khaled Salmeen, executive vice-president of industrial zones at Abu Dhabi Ports Company, observed that the Asian investors are helping to diversify the emirates' economy away from oil.Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) is the largest industrial area in the UAE and is drawing huge interest from investors from elsewhere in the world, Mr Salmeen noted.He explained that Kizad launched roadshows in three Asian economic countries - India, China and South Korea - and in Germany."The response was positive and this is also about attracting foreign direct investment," he explained to emirates247.com.Kizad, he added, plans to open offices in these countries, beginning in India.Abu Dhabi boasts most of the UAE's hydrocarbon wealth. However, the emirate is keen to move away from its dependency on oil, hence it has sought to broaden its investment portfolio.
