Abu Dhabi university campus to open Sunday

Students at Zayed University at Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi will get the chance to take a look around its brand new Dh3 billion campus when it opens on Sunday (September 4th).The campus will feature state-of-the-art academic and research facilities and includes 28 buildings, as well as a 1,000-seat convention centre, sports complex, residential buildings and childcare centre.Speaking ahead of its opening this weekend, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, minister of higher education and scientific research and president of the university, said: "The new campus will provide an ideal learning environment through its educational, academic, scientific and research facilities which have been designed and built on precise international specifications."Founded in 1998, the university now educates more than 6,000 men and women from 19 countries around the world. It has campuses in Abu Dhabi North, Abu Dhabi South, Dubai's Al Ruwayyah, and Dubai's Knowledge Village.It was reported this week that Abu Dhabi is set to become the gaming hub of the Gulf, with three major video game publishers looking to set up in the emirate this year.
