Abu Dhabi set to be Gulf's 'games hub'

The property sector in Abu Dhabi could be set to see a rise in demand from investors after announcing its aim to be the gaming hub of the Gulf region.Three major video game publishers are preparing to operate from the capital this year, and given the popularity of gaming in the emirate, key industry figures have expressed a desire to make Abu Dhabi the centre of gaming in the Middle East.As such, the twofour54 media centre has announced plans to create a new gaming academy in the hope that Abu Dhabi firms can develop a game empire as popular as Mario or Sonic the Hedgehog.Mohamed Haj Hasan, co-founder of games publisher Jawaker, told The National: "I really do think that bringing a bunch of gaming companies together is great for the cross-pollination of ideas."Jawaker, which specialises in card games, could work alongside Tahadi Games, which operates a number of titles including Runes of Might and Heroes of Gaia, and Karkadann Games, the firm behind hits like Manny Pacquiao: Pound for Pound and Cricket Power.
