Abu Dhabi airport sees 13% rise in passenger numbers

Passenger numbers increased by 13.3 per cent at Abu Dhabi international Airport during July, new figures show.Traffic statistics published by the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) reveals positive signs that more people are heading to the emirate for business and travel.Indeed, the month saw as many as 1.2 million passengers travelling through the terminal, the second time the airport has witnessed more than one million people visiting in any one month.London was the most popular route from the airport, followed by Doha and Bangkok."This double digit growth in July passenger traffic reveals the increasing attractiveness of Abu Dhabi as a destination during the summer season and the healthy mix of residents at the capital that is driving further inbound and outbound traffic throughout these months," commented Ahmad Al Haddabi, chief operating officer at ADAC.Growth has largely been attributed to new airlines operating from the airport and increased frequencies of flights. The school holidays and Ramadan has also had an impact, the company stated.
