UN working to improve road safety in Kenya

The UN is making a conscious effort to improve the state of roads in parts of Africa, including Kenya.Avi Silverman, head of international and public affairs for the FIA Foundation, which manages and supports an international programme of activities promoting road safety, conceded that the state of road safety on the continent is not very good at present.Casualty numbers in countries like Kenya are alarmingly high, which is why the UN is determined to improve road safety standards.Mr Silverman said: "[The UN] is looking to help build capacity for road safety over the next ten years and encourage the implementation of various key safety measures to be put in place in countries in Africa particularly."The FIA Foundation, an independent UK registered charity, funds specialist motor sport safety research.Meanwhile, the Kenyan government recently announced that it is seeking investors to finance a $3 billion technology hub near Nairobi, the capital city.
