RAK universities to get further regulation

Colleges and universities in Ras al Khaimah (RAK) are to be better regulated in an effort to encourage more students to enrol, people investing in property in RAK could be interested to hear.A council, made up of academics, will oversee the institutions, regulate teaching staff and curriculums and will be given the power to expel universities that underperform, the National reported.According to the news provider, the allure of Dubai's universities makes it difficult for RAK to attract students."But we have some great institutions such as the University of Bolton and the American University of RAK," head of the free zone, Oussama El Omari, told the National.Dubai already has a regulatory system in place. The University Quality Assurance International Board reviews colleges from all over the world in the free zones and those setting up in the emirate.RAK has nine universities and colleges and three that have a Ministry of Higher Education accreditation.
