RAK Airways to strengthen Indian ties

RAK Airways is to strengthen its links with India by increasing the number of flights to the country.There are strong business ties between India and the UAE and there is a large Indian community in Ras al Khaimah (RAK). The RAK-based airline will increase the frequency of flights to Kerala and establish new routes to Kochi, Trivandrum and Mangalore.Chief executive of RAK Airways, Omar Jahameh, met with Kerala's chief minister and government officials to discuss the move.According to ameinfo.com, the airline's low fares and UAE Visa Package has proved popular with the Indian expatriate community in the country.Mr Jahameh explained that with just its current service to Calicut, travellers face an "arduous journey" to the airport."Customers are subsequently appealing to us to increase frequency and destinations in the Indian Sub-Continent and we in turn, are making our appeal to the relevant Indian ministries," he said.He added that more two million Indians live in the UAE, almost 25 per cent of which live and work in RAK.
