New construction to ease traffic flow in Abu Dhabi

Salam Street, one of the busiest streets in Abu Dhabi, will be partially open for traffic after Eid Al Fitr, a report has suggested. The Khaleej Times has claimed that the construction project will see the creation of additional link roads and new tunnels, costing Dh5 billion.Covering over 15 kilometres, the road will link Abu Dhabi City with Umm Al Nar.The project, launched in 2007, was supposed to be completed this year, but plans were adjusted after the launch of Abu Dhabi Plan 2030, which has delayed the completion. It has been suggested that the new street will ease the traffic flow on alternate routes and parts of the city.As part of the exciting construction project, the Middle East's longest tunnel will be extended to three kilometres with four lanes and an estimated capacity to accommodate 6,000 vehicles per hour in each direction.More than 2,000 workers are involved in the construction of the tunnel, it has been confirmed.
