Hilton plans RAK hotel expansion

Property investors looking for opportunities in the UAE could be among those encouraged by a recent announcement from the Hilton hotel group.Hilton Worldwide has revealed that it is set to embark on a major expansion plan in the region, with Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) at the forefront of its plans.Once completed the plans could lead to a rise in tourist numbers to the emirate, which in turn could provide a boost to the local rental market.Shortly after the firm opened the doors to the new DoubleTree by Hilton Ras Al Khaimah, Essam Abouda, vice-president of the Arabian Peninsula and Indian Ocean, said a further 35 regional hotels are now in the pipeline.The new developments are said to include the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, which would be the first Waldorf Astoria in the UAE.Hilton already operates more than 50 hotels in the Middle East, with properties in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and the UAE, in addition to its interest in Africa and the Indian Ocean.
