First-time Dubai visitors advised to visit souqs

People visiting Dubai for the first time have been advised by one resident to seek out the souqs for a real taste of the emirate.Writing for CNN, Caroline Fara, who has lived in Dubai for almost ten years, said that a trip to the area must begin with the 'real Dubai' at Souq Nayef in Deira, a suburb of Dubai. This recently-rebuilt market sells the best and the cheapest bread in the UAE, she writes, while Dubai has three other popular souqs: the Gold Souq, Textile Souq and the Karama Souq. However, she advises tourists to bargain before buying anything as the markets are populated by tourists.Other must-see destinations, Ms Fara claims, includes the Burj Khalifa, which has "unforgettable views" from the tower's observation deck."While there, enjoy the Dancing Fountain on a lake outside the Burj," she advises, while visitors could also enjoy a three-hour safari trip in the middle of the desert dunes.
