Dubai Metro Green Line to open next month

The new Green Line on the Dubai Metro will open next month, with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, cutting the ribbon on September 9th.It will provide a vital transport link for Dubai residents and will comprise 18 stations, as well as two stations that will connect with the existing Red Line.Just two stations will not open on this date, Al Jadaf and Creek, as local property projects at these sights have not yet been completed. In total, the Green Line will open up 23km of Dubai to public transport passengers and is expected to speed up commuting times and business links throughout the emirate. Some of the stations have also been designed to link with local bus services for a seamless flow of commuters, particularly during peak times."The completion of the vital Dubai Metro project culminates the continual support and attention of His Highness … to uplift the infrastructure of Dubai Emirate," said Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the Board and executive director of the Roads & Transport Authority.
