Abu Dhabi's to open Ritz-Carlton by end of 2011

Abu Dhabi's reputation as a premier tourist destination is likely to improved by the end of the year, thanks to creation of its first Ritz-Carlton hotel.Hotel owner Abu Dhabi National Hotels has announced that the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi Grand Canal should be operating by the end of 2011, Hotelier Middle East reported.Richard Riley, the firm's chief executive officer, told the news provider that while a definitive open date has not been set, he is confident of a 2011 opening."I will be pushing very hard to get it open before the end of the year, that's what we're doing, I'm not going to nail it down but the bottom line is we feel we're very, very close and we just hope if everything will stay on schedule that we'll be able to pull it off," he commented.Around AED1.5 billion is being invested in the property, which will be located on a 230,000 square metre site, feature 532 rooms, a luxury spa, a 1,700 square metre ballroom and a 1,800 square metre swimming pool.Posted by Neil King
