Traffic congestion in Dubai falls 63% in five years, research says

People looking at investing in the Dubai property market could be interested to hear that traffic congestion has been reduced in the emirate.Figures published in the Al Khaleej revealed that traffic has been reduced by 63 per cent in the last five years, while waste of time and traffic has fallen by 51 per cent in the same time frame.Furthermore, the length of roads in Dubai has increased by 29 per cent. The number of bridges and tunnels has also increased by 195 per cent and 57 per cent respectively.Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the board and executive director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), told the news provider that the benefits are for all to see."The total value of saving time and fuel since the establishment of RTA amounted to Dh35.7 billion, a direct benefit of dozens of infrastructure projects completed by RTA in the last few years," he explained.It comes as the opening day of a new mosque nears in the emirate, one that will be able to accommodate up to 2,000 worshippers.
