RAK Airways 'in initial stage of development'

RAK Airways is still in the initial stages of development after re-launching less than a year ago, the airline's chief executive has said.Speaking to Gulf News, Omar Jahameh explained that despite its steady growth, the Ras al Khaimah-based company is doing well, with around 20,000 passengers a month and plans to increase flights to Jeddah."High passenger numbers have led to excellent load factors on most flights and as such we are very optimistic of the airline's success in the short and medium term," he said.Mr Jahameh explained that for now, focus will be on customers from the Indian subcontinent and from the wider Middle East."We do nonetheless see our operations very much as a major part of Ras Al Khaimah's vision for boosting tourism into the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and we are currently focusing our marketing on increasing this sector of the business," he added.It was announced this month that the airline will expand its network, servicing Doha, Qatar, four times a week, creating a sixth destination.
