Kenya Airways signs Bilateral Air Services Agreement

The Kenyan and Angolan governments have signed the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA), thereby paving way for Kenya Airways to expand its operations in the country.Kenya will, therefore, operate as many as three weekly frequencies to Angola, African Aviation has reported.Under the BASA, Kenya Airways can operate its route schedule from Kenya to any point in Angola, providing it flies to destinations beyond Angola and just uses it as an intermediate point."The signing of the BASA between the two governments is in line with Kenya Airways' growth strategy as it helps us in ensuring expansion of the Luanda route which we only started operating one year ago," remarked Dr Titus Naikuni, Kenya Airways chief executive and managing director.More importantly, he added, it "gives us the impetus to set up operations for flights to South America in the next few years".The BASA will allow for enhanced code share arrangements with TAAG - Angolan airlines, in addition to other Kenya Airways' partners.
