Abu Dhabi's Al Ain site named on Unesco World Heritage List

Investors looking for property in the UAE could be interested to hear that Unesco has named its first World Heritage List site in the area.Abu Dhabi's Al Ain area, which includes the 1,249-metre high peak of Jebel Hafeet, could create a surge in tourism as people come to see the highly-recommended attraction.Moreover, the area also features 500 ancient burial tombs that date back thousands of years and bronze and Iron Age sites of Al Hili.Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), said that the news will help boost tourism in the area."We also look to our expanding stakeholder base to leverage its own entrepreneurial instincts and skills to ensure that the anticipated increasing visitor demand for Al Ain is met in the most professional and respectful way possible," he told state news agency WAM.Abu Dhabi's hotel occupancy rate increased by 17.4 per cent in May, according to STR Global.
