Abu Dhabi sees upturn in visitor numbers

Abu Dhabi's tourism sector continues to go from strength to strength, with the emirate having benefited from a marked upturn in visitors over recent weeks.Once again highlighting the region's popularity among both business and leisure travellers, the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has revealed that numbers of visitors from both Europe and the surrounding Gulf region have been rising steadily over the past few months.Notably, speaking to the National newspaper, the organisation's director of strategy and policy Lawrence Franklin, explained that the vast majority of visitors to Abu Dhabi are business travellers, including foreigners keen to tap into the potential of property investment in the emirate. However, hospitality industry insiders also told the newspaper that they are keen to see an increase in leisure travellers, largely as tourists can 'fill the gaps' of the traditional corporate season, for example over the Christmas and summer holidays.Meanwhile, 110 students are gearing up to graduate from the Abu Dhabi Tourism Summer Camp, with the initiative aimed at enabling them with the skills they need to work in the hospitality sector.
