Tourism in UAE to double by 2025

The UAE can expect tourism numbers to double in the next 14 years, the Emirates Industrial Bank (EIB) has said.Through investments and long-term economic diversification plans, the nation will see tourism account for 12.5 per cent of GDP, it is hoped.Emirates 24/7 reported that the UAE has spent nearly Dh47 billion in projects over the past ten years to boost tourism, including building new hotels, airports and the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa, bringing the sector's contribution to GDP to 6.2 per cent.The rise in tourism will also be through investments planned in Dubai and Abu Dhabi."Besides airports and other projects, the UAE has also allocated large funds for the expansion of its ports to cope with the growing sea traffic in terms of cargo and passengers," an EIB report stated, cited by the news provider.Last year the number of visitors to the UAE increased by around 10.5 per cent to nearly 11.6 million.
