Kenya Airways is to take possession of ten new aircraft as its expansion plans continue to gather pace.Business Daily Africa reported that the airline agreed to purchase the Embraer 190 jets at the International Paris Air Show, which is taking place this week. The news could be welcomed by Kenyan investors as the move shows positive signs of anticipated tourism figures over the coming years.Kenya Airways' managing director Titus Naikuni, said: "As we continue to focus on the expansion of our network with longer routes from our hub in Nairobi, the acquisition of new Embraer 190s is key to our growth strategy."The E190 jet fits well with our expansion strategy, giving us an opportunity to expand our network and increase our frequencies."A purchase price was undisclosed, but the news provider estimated it at around Sh40 billion.Passengers will also see the opening of eight new routes this financial year, including locations in the Middle East, Nigeria and Tanzania. The first delivery of the jets will be in the second half of 2012.
