Kenya aims to boost ICT capacity

The Kenyan government is planning investment in ICT to help smaller businesses.Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenya's finance minister, revealed a range of incentives designed to boost ICT capacity in favour of start-ups and student enterprises.The country is making an effort not to favour the big corporate players in the sector, instead attempting to spur more investment into start-up funds, All Africa reported.Mr Kenyatta remarked: "Our youth sector has embraced innovation and given the country international recognition."They have pioneered innovations in mobile and ICT sector and we must move to tap into this pool of resources."The government noted that it recognises the importance of the private sector in realising economic growth in Kenya.To facilitate this, it noted that intends to attract more investments in the ICT sector in order to improve the business environment.Computers are also set to be purchased for schools to help young people to pick up more skills for developing ICT in the future.
