Dubai passenger and cargo airport traffic continues to grow in May

More people could look at Dubai property for sale after new figures revealed that there has been growth in both passenger and cargo traffic at the emirate's airport.Dubai Airports revealed that 3.97 million people passed through last month, an increase of 325,000 - or 8.8 per cent - on the same time last year.Furthermore, year-to-date figures now stand at 20.5 million passengers with a similar increase of 8.6 per cent compared to the same point in 2010.Paul Griffiths, the chief executive officer of Dubai Airports, told emirates 24-7 that this growth is expected to continue in the years to come."Passenger volumes are on course to top 51 million by year end which should put us hot on the trail of Hong Kong International as the world's third busiest airport for international passenger traffic," he explained."By 2015 we expect to overtake London Heathrow for the number one spot when passenger numbers surpass 75 million."It comes after the Dubai Land Department said yesterday (June 20th) that 10,000 new residential and office units will enter the market this year.
