Atlantis hotel predicts 90% occupancy rate

The luxury Dubai hotel Atlantis on Palm Jumeirah expects that 90 per cent of its rooms will be occupied in 2011.Speaking to Emirates 24/7, Serge Zaalof, chief operating officer of Atlantis, said that the hotel is ahead of forecast and budget already this year."Dubai is doing much better as a destination," he said, noting that 1.1 million guests are expected to book rooms over the year.In 2010, the resort saw an 83 per cent occupancy rate.Mr Zaalof explained that the rise in hotel visitors will largely be from China and India, although the European and GCC market constitutes the main number of visitors. The news provider reported that figures from the Dubai Statistics Centre show Dubai hotel guests surpassed 1.8 million in the first three months of the year, which could in part be down to tourists opting for the emirate over other Middle Eastern countries during the civil unrest.
