UAE seeks green investment
The UAE is seeking green investment worth up to Dh70 billion over the next seven years, it has been announced.Abdullah Al Saleh, director general of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, made the announcement at the Annual Investment Meeting, Gulf News has reported.According to Petko Draganov, deputy secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, global climate change requires a massive financial and technological response, in addition to $440 billion in investments until 2015.Al Saleh remarked: "Green energy is very important for the UAE government as well as the government focus on key components to enhance green investment."The UAE must increase the level of expertise in this field through training, education and the research centres, he said."Besides," the director general explained, "we need to set up strategic partnerships with countries that are more advanced in terms of green investment to transfer technology among them."
