Ras Al Khaimah seeks to position itself as tourism hotspot
Some $100 million is to be invested in Ras Al Khaimah hotel and tourism projects in the coming four years, it has been revealed. The northern emirate's tourism authority noted that the funding is being used in an attempt to quadruple the visitor count in the region.Indeed, the chief operating officer of the organisation claimed that they hope to see tourism account for 20 per cent of Ras Al Khaimah's total income by 2021."[Ras Al Khaimah] is one of the few destinations in the UAE and the Middle East which provides value for money," said Victor Louis.Projects due to be completed in the coming year include the Waldorf Astoria hotel and two new shopping centres, the Ras Al Khaimah Mall and the Al Naim mall. The man-made Marjan Island remains under construction, but is likely to play host to a number of branded hotels and resorts on completion, Mr Louis added.
