Kenya expands global tourism marketing

Kenya has expanded its global presence and opened 18 new tourism offices around the world. The country now has a number of extra marketing offices, although it is calling for an investment of Ksh1.4 billion to allow it to conduct effective marketing of the country.Indeed, funding is the main constraint in selling the country's image overseas, according to the tourist board.Director of marketing Jennifer Opondo said: "If we had an adequate budget we would turn round the tourism sector in a very short while and make it the real engine towards achieving Vision 2030."Investment in Kenya's tourism industry could prove tempting if people are to heed the comments.Last year, around 1.4 million tourists visited Kenya from abroad, but Ms Opondo estimates that this number could be doubled. The country is already working hard to expand out of traditional markets and encourage people from a diverse range of countries to visit.
