Emirates to operate 100 weekly flights to Australia

Emirates, the leading airline operating from Dubai, has announced that it is to increase the number of flights between the emirate and Australia.The airline is to operate 100 weekly flights to Australia after seeing a 52 per cent rise in profits, Arabian Business reported.According to the news provider, the firm saw profits reach $1.5 billion last year.At present, Emirates operates 70 flights a week to Australia but the company has identified the opportunity for further expansion.Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum, told the magazine: "We are entitled to operate about 85 flights to Australia under the bilateral [agreement] … When we meet that I am sure that we try to bring it to 100," he said.However, in order to operate at the increased capacity, the carrier will need to obtain permission from Australian travel authorities.The Emirates Group marked its 23rd consecutive year of profit and is on course to become the "world's largest airline".
