Dubai Airport Freezone pumps AED52bn into economy
The Dubai Airport Freezone contributed AED52 billion to the emirate's trade volume in 2010, figures from the area show.It reported annual revenue statistics, showing that the region represented 5.8 per cent of the total volume of Dubai trade last year.Commenting on the results, Mohammed Al Zarooni, director general of Dubai Airport Freezone, said: "The impressive contribution of Dubai Airport Freezone to the overall trade volume in Dubai is a testament to our commitment and effort towards supporting the local economy."We will continue to attract more international investments by enabling an environment for businesses in our cluster to thrive."There were 102 new companies that came to the area last year and over the past 15 years it has attracted more than 1,450 firms.Total exports in Dubai were AED355 billion, of which the Dubai Airport Freezone accounted for AED21.652 billion.Meanwhile, the emirate made AED547 billion in overall imports.
