Disney: Dubai is attractive market for development

The Walt Disney Company has moved to distance itself from talk about a new resort in the Middle East.It comes as Mohi-Din BinHendi, president of the UAE's BinHendi Enterprises, said a resort of the size and scale that Disneyland boasts is required by Dubai to grab a "larger slice of the tourism pie".The US group has revealed that it has no plans for a new park in the UAE, but added that Dubai is a "attractive" market for development, Arabian Business reported.A spokesperson for the entertainment giant told the news provider: "We continually look for opportunities to grow our business and as a part of that process, we have conversations with many different entities."While Dubai is an attractive market, we currently have no plans for the region."Disney had been mooted as a partner for the Dubailand project, which has boasted tie-ups with a range of leisure firms including Universal Studios, Six Flags and Legoland. However, the project was postponed in 2008 amid the financial crisis and is now expected to be downscaled before further progress is made.
