Dubai sheikh to buy Spanish football club

The growing trend of Middle Eastern investors attaching themselves to football clubs appears to have reached Spain.A growing number of reports claim that a member of the Dubai ruling family is poised to buy La Liga outfit Getafe. It has been claimed that should the business transaction go ahead, the side would adopt the moniker Team Dubai. However, it has been said that the name would be added to Getafe, rather than replacing it.Reports place the value of the deal, which would see Sheikh Butti bin Suhail al-Maktoum assume control of the club, at $90 million. However, Getafe president Angel Torres denied that the club has been sold as he travelled to Dubai.Mr Torres claimed he was heading to the UAE "with the idea of having meetings to look for sponsors that improve the image of Getafe and a new name for the stadium."Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi, currently owns Premier League side Manchester City, having bought the club in 2008.
