Could cost saving computing technology prompt investment in Kenya?

Investment in Kenya could receive a boost from the development of green computing technology, which is cutting costs.According to the Computer Society of Kenya, programmes are being targeting to ensure that companies will embrace money and energy saving technology. The move is likely to increase investment in the region by lowering costs, especially since professionals in the hotel industry have recently highlighted the increasing cost of energy as something that detracts them from investing in Kenya.Chairman of the Computer Society, Dr Waudo Siganga, told All Africa: "We have discussed with the managers methodologies and best practices for building green data centres which not only help preserve the environment but also save money for organisations particularly through reduced power costs."He added that Kenya must take up green IT as part of the global campaign to safeguard the environment.Meanwhile, Computer Technics technical director Dhirajlal Nanji Ratna told the news source that investing in new infrastructure, such as new servers, would pay off.
