Residents of the Tecom and surrounding Al Barsha areas are reminded they now have a green haven to escape to! The Al Barsha 1 park was officially inaugurated this week by H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance. The 16600 m2 parkland was one of four green spaces that were launched this week to mark the government’s 31st week of plantation. It is located just a few minutes away from the bustling business district of Tecom, home to the First Group’s three prestigious hotel apartment projects, Metro Central, Grand Central and First Central.
The Al Barsha Park 1 includes some of the most advanced facilities in the city, with play courts for kids, sporting areas for football, volleyball, basket ball, beach volleyball and ground tennis, as well as fitness equipments, a cafe and jogging track. A wide variety of trees, plants, grass and bushes have also been planted throughout the park, so visitors can enjoy a natural environment. It is part of Dubai municipality’s ‘green’ print to increase the amount of green space in the emirate to 8%, nearly double the amount when the plan was first unveiled in 2009. It also hopes to ensure every resident in the emirate is within easy reach of a park.
