Nigerian president calls on stakeholders to invest in the country's tourism sector

The president of Nigeria has called on investors and stakeholders to put their money into the tourism sector to help create new jobs.In news that could interest property investors in Abuja, president Goodluck Jonathan has also urged all tiers of government to put money towards bringing more people to Abuja and other cities.Mr Jonathan is quoted by the Daily Times as saying that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has got a plan in place to get the private sector on board financially to help achieve tourism growth.He added that he backs "federal government's commitment to engendering the requisite enabling environment to promote the rapid and sustained growth of the tourism sector of our national economy."Meanwhile, the Abuja Carnival is underway after the country's vice-president Namadi Sambo was on hand to open the proceedings last weekend.Thousands of people have been taking part in colourful processions to celebrate this year's theme, Carnival of Reconciliation.
