Ministers looking into ways for Abuja to host 2018 Olympic Youth Games

Abuja property could become more sought after in the future after the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) revealed that it is working to host the 2018 Olympic Youth Games.Ministers believe that the socio-economic status of people living in Abuja and the rest of Nigeria would be "transformed" if the city could welcome such an event. The state minister for FCTA, Olajumoke Akinjide, said that the country is looking at ways infrastructure can be developed in the coming years.Furthermore, she added that sport can be used to benefit the whole of society, which is why the 2018 Youth Games would be an important catch."It is against this backdrop that we in the Social Development Secretariat are determined to ensure that sports are given the desired attention in the FCTA , in order to give our teeming youth the platform to exhibit, develop and utilise their skills for their own benefit and the benefit of the society at large," she explained.Meanwhile, residents celebrated the Abuja Carnival's arrival last weekend as many people joined parades across the city.
