Dubai achieved impressive trade growth in the third quarter of last year, new figures show.
Data released by the Dubai Statistics Centre has revealed that the emirate's direct foreign trade rose by 21 per cent year-on-year over the period to reach AED 145.8 billion, the Khaleej Times reported.
According to the newspaper, Dubai's third quarter growth was strong across the three sectors of exports, re-exports and imports.
"The strong growth was driven by the export sector that registered a 34.8 per cent growth in the third quarter to reach AED 17.5 billion compared to AED 13 billion in the same 2009 period," it said.
It was also reported that imports rose by 16.7 per cent to reach AED 91.5 billion.
The news comes after Dubai Trade, a major trade facilitator operating as part of Dubai World, recently signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates SkyCargo aimed at improving air freight services in the region.
