Dubai Hotels Expand as MICE Demand Rises

Dubai’s growth in hotel accommodation is helping to meet the continued rise in demand from business tourists. A total of 11 congresses have been secured to take place from 2011-2013 in Dubai, according to the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing’s Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB). This will attract an estimated 20,000 business travelers to the emirate, spelling good news for hotels and serviced apartments across the city. It is also yet another positive report for investors within the city’s hotel sector.

Meeting this demand, hotel rooms in Dubai are set to grow by 11,530 to bring the total to 82,485 rooms, including serviced apartments. This new supply offers yet more choice for visitors from the MICE segment (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events). This business tourism will also help to generate close to AED163 million, while the DCB continues to work on new business leads to help further boost Dubai’s standing as a top MICE destination. The First Group is proud to be one of the developers adding to the choice for MICE travelers, thanks to a number of new hotel apartment projects. With The Diamond at Dubai Sports City already at full capacity, The First Group looks forward to the upcoming launches of its three Tecom developments; Metro Central, Grand Central and First Central.
