Dubai's growing hotel and hospitality sector is expected to create a surge in job opportunities for UAE nationals and expatriates this year.
Emirates 24/7 stated that, according to industry estimates, approximately 120,000 new jobs will be created in the UAE this year through the opening of 244 hotels containing 55,000 rooms.
The prediction came as it was reported that the Jumeirah Group, which is due to open the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray hotel on Palm Island this month, is currently on a recruitment drive as it looks to appoint staff to the new Dubai resort.
A spokesperson for Jumeirah Group told Emirates 24/7 that about 1,100 employees will be needed to manage the new property.
The hotel incorporates 405 rooms and 38 villas as well as a 42-room spa, the largest spa in the region.
Meanwhile, it was also reported that this month will see the opening of the emirate's second Ritz-Carlton hotel, located in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
